Silver has been used since ancient times for its antibacterial effects; for example, wounds were covered with silver foil or cleaned with water from silver jugs. Silver cutlery was also considered a protection against infectious diseases.

With the discovery of antibiotics, it fell into the background. In light of antibiotic resistance today, silver is highly relevant again; however, in a modern form as microsilver. The precious metal releases a very small amount of ions (metal cations), which, even in this low concentration, are sufficient to eliminate bacteria. This relieves the skin, e.g., in cases of atopic dermatitis, inflammatory skin conditions, and supports the skin's protective barrier.

Microsilver, thanks to its structure, protects against a wide spectrum of bacteria and, unlike antibiotics, poses a low risk regarding the development of bacterial resistance.

Today, it is used in cosmetics for neurodermatitis, foot care, toothpaste, and antiperspirants. Whenever the colonization of the skin with germs is to be prevented or reduced. DR.BELTER® uses pure, elemental silver powder. It has an average size of 10 micrometers and is therefore called microsilver.

Due to its properties, microsilver is ideally suited for the care of stressed, hypersensitive skin prone to redness and inflammation. This can occur with sunburn, after intense apparatus treatments, or with radiation dermatitis as part of oncological therapy.

It is also optimal for use in foot care for diabetics and stressed feet. Germs are rendered harmless locally, thus actively counteracting inflammation, wounds, and fungal infections. The odor-reducing and itch-relieving effects are also pleasant.
