Peelings: Frischer Glow – Let’s go!
Peelings: Fresh Glow - Let's go
Like many things on this planet, our largest and most attractive organ—the skin—also goes through a cycle. In young years, typically around 28 days—later, a bit longer. Within this time, it does a tremendous amount of work. It regenerates and renews itself from the ground up to clothe and protect us. However, to make the new, finely-pored, regenerated skin shine, it occasionally needs a little help to remove dead skin cells from the surface and promote its renewal power.
This is where the DR.BELTER® Peeling variants come into play—ideally used 1-2 times a week, peelings stimulate circulation, refine the pore structure, and make the skin more receptive to subsequent care products. The skin simply looks more even and fresh after a peeling! Peelings are not a modern invention. Since antiquity, skin exfoliation has been part of traditional beauty care. Even in ancient Egypt, oils mixed with salts, alabaster preparations, coffee, and sea mud were used for smoothing beauty rituals.
In Turkey, mixtures of sulfur, mustard, and clay were used to deliberately cause mild skin burns—which then resulted in accelerated exfoliation. In Morocco, the Hammam culture with its steam bath with olive soap and subsequent Kiss Peeling glove rub is wonderfully alive.
Peeling with fruit acids also has origins dating back to ancient times: the legendary donkey milk bath of Cleopatra owes its effect in part to lactic acid. But the ladies of the medieval court also appreciated the refining effect of red wine compresses. Active here: tartaric acid and the vessel-strengthening resveratrol from grapes.
It depends on the right technique:
Abrasive Peelings: They are the classics among peeling methods. They work with abrasive particles and mechanically erase the skin surface through movement. Abrasive particles can be: sand, clay, salt, cane sugar, lactic acid beads, apricot kernels, lychee shells, coffee.
Good to know: Conventional peels often use plastic particles. DR.BELTER® peels are free of microplastic particles according to GreenTec Concept®!
Enzymatic Peelings: Enzyme peels contain so-called proteolytic enzymes. They break down proteins from the intercellular substance between the corneocytes and thus detach them from the cell structure. This results in a smoothing removal of dead skin cells. This peeling is particularly gentle and low in irritation. It is especially suitable for sensitive skin. When time is of the essence, an enzyme peel is both a moisturizing pack and a peel at the same time.
Fruit Acid Peelings: Fruit acids are a naturally effective, long-proven chemical peel. They have so-called keratolytic properties. They loosen and destabilize the intercellular substance that holds the corneocytes = horn cells together, resulting in increased shedding. The immediate effect is a smoother skin texture; with repeated use, there is an acceleration of the skin renewal cycle and thus a refined, more even skin tone.
Intensive fruit acid treatments by a cosmetician, with highly concentrated fruit acids, can cause intense and noticeable skin renewal in winter. Perfect for scarred, blotchy, or prematurely aged skin.
[Explanation of the term Peeling: Latin pellis = the skin / Greek pelas = the skin / English: to peel = to peel]
